The upright latticework needlepoint stitch is a beautiful way to add texture and movement to your canvas. Its repeating, interlocking pattern creates a woven effect that looks intricate while remaining easy to follow once you establish the first few repeats.

The diagram uses two thread colors to make the repeating sections easier to see. You can recreate that two-color look on your canvas or stitch the entire pattern in one fiber for a more subtle texture.
Where to Use Upright Latticework
This stitch works best in medium to large areas where there is enough room for several full pattern repeats. Consider using it for:
